Setting S.M.A.R.T Goals

Hi all, Coach Mindy here!

Now that we’ve learned how to create our WHY. Let’s discover how to make it happen!

We all know change doesn’t happen overnight. Taking things slow is our best bet for sustainable success. The best way to do that is incorporating SMART goals into your weekly plan. This ‘smart’ isn’t a clever or intelligent goal, it’s a goal constructed using the S-M-A-R-T Framework.

Each week, you get to choose the steps you want to take. It’s entirely up to you, but making it SMART is a great strategy to make your small steps a reality.

The SMART Breakdown

* S= Be Specific.
Rather than saying “I will exercise more”, Say “I will exercise by walking”.

* M= Make it Measurable.
“I will walk for 15 minutes 4 days”.

* A= Is it Attainable?
Can you actually complete the goal?

* R= Is it Relevant?
How will this goal contribute to your overall goals?

* T=Set a set Time frame.
“I will walk for 15 minutes 4days a week for the next month.”

Start with something small. If you haven’t been walking regularly, it’s ambitious to set a goal of walking 7 days a week. Baby steps help you build lasting habits. It is natural to want to tackle many goals at once, but doing so can quickly become overwhelming and a main reason why we stop.

When to move on. Once you feel confident in your current goal, and you are consistently meeting your goals, then you can add another goal to the mix.
