My Why?

May is the beginning of my journey for the last time. There are several things that have caused this swift shift in my journey.

I have several medical conditions at the present such as IBS, Osteopenia, arthritis, high cholesterol, and Fibromyalgia that I need to get a grip on. I have a lot of inflammation and don’t even know what all is triggering it.

I have a lot of medical conditions in my family’s medical history. My grandmother and uncle on my father’s side had Colon Cancer. My father and other uncle have had polyps removed regularly through colonoscopies. My uncle and cousin on that same side of the family has diabetes. Both of my parents have high blood pressure. My father also has heart disease, this continues to cause complications which has resulted in him recently spending numerous nights at the hospital.

These health and medical ailments are scary. I have too many factors lined up against me not to get control of myself.

My son is 5 years old and he deserves to have me around and at my very best. I want to be that mother who’s running around the playground with him. He’s an only child so having someone that can get out there and play with him is essential. I was an only child, and my parents just couldn’t do that. I know how it feels to have no one to play with.

So my why?

My why is for my child.

I want him to grow up having fun. I want him to grow up seeing healthy options as just a normal part of life. He already notices that working out is just part of my routine. He recently made the comment, “Mommy you are strong!” Even though I’m seriously not, I can’t describe to you how good it feels to hear him say that. I just love that he wants to join me in my workouts.

Taking care of myself is for him – 100%, but it’s also for me as well.

I cook a lot at home, so the healthier meals will actually help my son, my husband, and myself. Even more bang for the buck!
