10 Ways to Learn To Love Yourself Again

Thursday, Jun 4, 2020 | Uncategorized

Do you know what’s the greatest struggle people usually encounter in life?

The greatest struggle in life, with all our imperfections, is the struggle to accept, embrace and love ourselves. To be 100 % honest regarding who we are, how we feel and what we need.

We need to stop discrediting ourselves for everything we aren’t, and start giving ourselves credit for everything we are. And to be aware that not everyone we love is going to agree with us on every step of the way, and be OK.

We must learn to be our own best friends because we sometimes fall into the trap of being our own worst enemies too easily. We love the idea of loving others and we forget to love ourselves.

What we must realize is that our greatest task is not the discovery of self-love; it is the breaking down of the walls against which we have built. When we have the courage to push through these walls – to know and embrace ourselves, despite our humanity, our flaws and our rejections – we also open the door to connect with others who are truly worth loving in more caring, empathetic and intimate ways.

This is why I’m going to share a few tips and ways to love yourself again!

Start telling yourself what you love about yourself.

It’s important to understand how fantastic you are in your own life. You have to look at the mirror really and be kind. Because it is often what we see in the mirror that we see in the world. Our disappointment in others often reflects our self-deception.

Our acceptance of others often reflects our own self-acceptance. Often, our ability to see the potential within others reflects our ability to see the potential within ourselves. Our patience with others often reflects our self-patience. You get the idea-first and foremost you must show yourself some love.

Be one with what is.

Something that’s really hard but totally worth it is giving up on being perfect and starting the journey of becoming your true self. The most beautiful part of this experience is actually getting back to the peaceful feeling of being. This piece is the result of retraining your mind in order to process life as it is and not as you think it should be.

Focus less on winning the approval of others

Remember you don’t have to do what everybody else does. And you also should not get permission to do anything differently. Your presence on this planet is priceless. There is a saying, “What you do today is important, because you are exchanging a day of your life for it.”  Don’t wait around for someone else to give you permission to live.

Start making the changes you know you need to make

Just because something in the past made you happy doesn’t mean you’ve got to keep it forever. If you want to see changes in your life today, you ‘re going to have to do stuff you never did before. Different input = Different output. Turn away from the things that exhaust you, and step through the thoughts and actions that inspire you.

Embrace the mistakes you haven’t even made yet

Sometimes, to be successful in the long run, you have to fail. So don’t let the fear of making the wrong decision stop you from taking any decision. Failing will always be a part of life. It can happen to me, to you, to all of us.

Distance yourself from those who bring you down

It is easier to be in no relationship than to be in a wrong relationship. Don’t be too worried about folks who don’t care about you. Know Your Interest! If you give in to those who disrespect you, you lose. Your life-long friends should encourage, empower, and value you. Your circle should be supportive and well rounded. Keep them tight. Quality over quantity, always.

Forgive your past self

When you confront the dark parts of yourself and work with the light of your forgiveness to remove them, your willingness to fight with your demons in this way will cause your angels to sing. It’s just a matter of understanding that good people like you make poor choices sometimes. It does not mean that you’re bad; it does mean you ‘re human. Bored with the past; it is done. Forgive yourself what you think you have done or have not done, and focus on what you are going to do right now. (Read The Miracle Morning.)

Show gratitude for who you are and what you have right now

No, you are not always going to get what you want. And no, you ‘re not going to where you want to be. But note this: plenty of people are never going to have what you have right now. And use pain, anger, and discomfort to inspire you, rather than bother you. You are in control of how you view life.

Do something every day that makes you happy

There is a big difference between hollow frustration and overwhelming pleasure. Life is a little too short. Invest in the activities of which you care deeply. A healthy life is about making a good decision every day to do something that inspires you – to take care of yourself by doing things that matter to you. It’s about knowing there’s nothing egoistic about self-care. Because we can’t give what we’re not getting. You need to live life on your terms before you can give anyone life.

Give yourself a fair chance to explore new ideas and opportunities

Don’t let yourself know how it’ll end up keeping you from the start. Confusion pushes us out into the open where opportunity awaits us when we act.

Closing Thoughts

The bottom line is: People will come and go. Things are going to come and go. Day and night will come and go. But true love for yourself, if you nurture it, will always remain with you.

So put these things on your TO-DO list today, and tie them to the points above:

  • Spend time doing things that make you think something about yourself.
  • Spend time focusing on things that help you love yourself more.
  • Spend time with people who help you love yourself more.

Repeat tomorrow.
